My Personal Journey

I have dedicated my life to supporting and developing others, with a focus on creating and advocating for inclusiveness throughout my entire professional career. You might wonder why this is so important to me.
In 2002, as I was starting my first business in the events and travel industry, I wanted to impress my now life partner, who is visually impaired. As I immersed myself in the topic, my understanding of disability deepened. Like many, I had assumed that a disability was always visible; if you weren't in a wheelchair or walking with a cane, you weren't disabled. This realization prompted me to co-create the first Content Management System for the greater events and travel industry (Eventsystempro.com) that created "Accessible by Design" websites that were AODA compliant, before it was even a thing.
Fast forward to 2014, we were gifted a wonderful baby boy, who is labelled as neurodivergent, adding an extra layer of complication to our already crazy lives and family travel plans. And just because fate is a cruel beast, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a very painful and terminal blood cancer, which has resulted in me being labelled as permanently disabled. We are a “dysfunctionally disabled” family – something I can laugh about.
If you are partially disabled, have a hidden disability, suffer from a terminal disease, have severe dietary restrictions, or simply have a “special need”, you know how difficult travel can be. Misconceptions about disabilities exist across all demographics, all over the world. Advocating for yourself can be embarrassing and often difficult, which makes it easy to feel that it is simply not worth it. Why choose to suffer more than you already do?
I have the experience, the willingness, and the compassion to be your Travel Advocate. Regardless of whether you have a “special need” or not, you can be assured that working with me means working with someone who prioritizes you and your loved ones.
